Learn about how adverse childhood experiences can affect families and how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and illness.

Leadership Workshop: Treatment not Jail

A free workshop supporting the de-criminalization of mental illness, featuring Darya Farivar of Disability Rights Washington and Courtney Helsa of Comprehensive Healthcare, who will speak to statewide and local issues. NAMI Annual Meeting-Sept. 7

The Annual Meeting of NAMI Yakima will be held Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting will be held at the First Street Conference Room, 223 North 1st Street, Yakima 98901 (the old Pizza Hut/ Coroner’s Office). Members will vote on the FY 2019-2020 Budget, and incoming officers of the Board of Directors. Amendments to the NAMI Yakima By-laws will also be considered. Family & Friends – July 20

The NAMI Family and Friends Seminar will be offered on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the the Comprehensive Healthcare Auditorium, 402 S 4th Avenue, Yakima WA 98902, Entrance #1. The program introduces participants to NAMI resources and programs in addition to key topics: symptoms, diagnoses, treatment options and communication strategies. The program is free. NAMI Yakima Welcomes Volunteer Coordinator – Michele Lazorik

Michele Lazorik is the new volunteer coordinator for NAMI Yakima. Michele took the Family to Family class last Fall and plans to become a Family to Family teacher. She recently completed NAMI Ending the Silence presenter training and is working to provide the program in area schools for students, staff and parents. Michele also volunteers her time with the ASPEN and will be getting her Master’s in Counseling this June. We are privileged to have her as a volunteer. NAMI Family & Friends Seminar – Feb. 23

NAMI Yakima will offer the free 5-hour seminar, Family & Friends, on Saturday February 23, from  10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Comprehensive Healthcare, 402 S 4th Avenue, Yakima WA 98902.  The program informs and supports those who have loved ones with a mental health condition.  Participants learn about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, communication strategies, crisis preparation and NAMI resources.  Lunch will be provided.  To register, contact the NAMI office at 453-8229, or you may register directly by going to
