NAMI Yakima Annual Meeting - August 18, 2022

The Annual Meeting of NAMI Yakima will take place on Thursday, August 18, 2022, 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the NAMI Yakima Office, 107 South 6th Street, Yakima WA 98901.

Nancy Bacon of the Nonprofit Association of Washington will be featured guest speaker. The agenda will include election of NAMI Yakima Board members and officers, approval of the Budget for FY 21-22 and approval of a change to the By-laws, which is posted below. All current NAMI members are eligible to vote.

The following by-laws change was approved by the NAMI Yakima Board of Directors at the July 13, meeting.

Section 7.01. Officers

The officers of the organization shall be a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, and Treasurer. No person may hold more than one office at a time. These officers will comprise the Executive Committee of the corporation.

No two members of the same immediate family – spouses, parents, children, etc. – may serve on the board of directors and/or on the executive committee at the same time.

A. Board Officers

1. NAMI-Washington officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) shall be elected from its Board of Directors.

2. Officers shall be elected by the Board of Directors using the secret ballot method of voting. A simple majority of those Directors present and voting is required for election. Specific election process shall be detailed in the NAMI Washington Policy and Procedure Manual.

Only those who have consented to serve if elected may be nominated.

3. Officers shall serve a two (2) year term commencing immediately upon election.

4. Officers are eligible for re-election up to a maximum of four (4) consecutive years.

5. Vacated Officer Position. In the event that no current Director is available or willing to fill a vacated officer’s position on the NAMI Washington Board of Directors, the Board may choose a candidate from outside the Board to fill the position, provided that the outside candidate otherwise meets all qualifications for Board membership.

a. An outside candidate filling a vacated position under this provision may serve only until the nearest scheduled election, at which time the candidate may be presented to the membership as a candidate for election to the Board.
