Raise your voice against stigma by educating yourself and others.
Join us for NAMI Walks Yakima, an inspiring community event that raises awareness and funds for mental health. Taking place yearly at Franklin Park, this walk brings together individuals, families, and organizations committed to ending mental health stigma.
Participants will enjoy a supportive atmosphere where stories are shared, connections are made, and hope is celebrated. With resource tables, entertainment, and speakers, NAMI Walks offers more than just a walking event—it’s a powerful demonstration of our community’s dedication to mental health support and education.
Whether you walk as an individual, form a team, or become a sponsor, your participation helps NAMI Yakima continue providing vital mental health programs and services throughout our community. Together, we can step forward for mental health.
NAMI Yakima Advocacy & Lobby Day brings together mental health advocates to make real change in our community. This powerful event unites individuals with lived experience, family members, and allies as they meet directly with state legislators to share personal stories and advocate for improved mental health policies.
Participants receive training on effective advocacy techniques and current legislative priorities before heading to the Capitol to speak with elected officials. By putting a human face on mental health challenges, our advocates help lawmakers understand the critical importance of funding, access to care, and supportive services.
Join us for this transformative day of civic engagement that amplifies voices too often unheard. Together, we can influence policy decisions that improve lives and create lasting change for mental health in our state! Interested? Please email: anepomuceno@namiwa.org
NAMI Smarts for Advocacy is a hands-on advocacy training that helps people living with mental illness, friends and family transform their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy. NAMI Smarts: Telling Your Story is the foundation module and in this workshop, we’ll talk about why advocacy for mental health care is so important and the power of your story to influence others. Then, we’ll guide you through writing your own powerful story in seven short steps. Finally, we’ll prepare to meet with our legislators during NAMI WA Virtual Lobby Week.
